About Us

Union Square Review was born out of the realization that paid book reviews are too expensive for what they have become: a plot summary with one sentence of opinion or, as some call it, the “money quote.” Initially, we launched Union Square as a traditional but more affordable book review service than the leading paid book review services (Kirkus, Clarion, Blue Ink, IndieReader) with the added benefit of providing the author with the reviewer’s full scoring rubric (rather than a simple synopsis of the story), which allowed the author to fully understand the assessment behind the review.

We have since decided that the paid book review model, even at our reduced prices and with the included scoring rubric, was not enough for authors, who really need access to readers. So, we reconceived the service and have done away fully with the old school book reviews, turning instead to the world of social media, which is where authors need traction the most.
